I have just purchased a CD that came with a free DVD. It’s on sale nationally in the UK. When I try to play it in my Panasonic DVD player & recorder, I get a message saying its the wrong region. I have never had this happen before My other DVD’s work perfectly OK. I tried the DVD on a neighbours player of exactly the same make and it plays perfectly. Would this suggest i may have altered a setting accidentally or what. I explained over the phone to the tech dept of the store where i bought the player,(John Lewis) and all they could say is that they were baffled

Hi,

NTSC, named for the National Television System Committee is the analog television system used in most of the Americas, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Burma, and some Pacific island nations and territories (see map). NTSC is also the name of the U.S. standardization body that developed the broadcast standard.[1] The first NTSC standard was developed in 1941 and had no provision for color TV.

So you have a region 1 dvd not region 2 as required in the UK.

It probably played on your neighbours player as it may be all region.

I want to buy the DVD of The Gravy Train & The Gravy Train goes East however can only find it for sale at Amazon.com, shipped from the US. I assume these won’t play on my British bought DVD player? If someone knows which TV company the programme was on that would help.

is it possible to buy a combination unit which plays both Blue Ray and normal dvd’s?? a similar machine to the Video & Dvd combination machines that used to be on sale.

thank you for any serious answers….don’t want to go looking for one – if they don’t exist.
edit: thank you…i didn’t realise i could play a normal dvd on a blu ray player!!

All blu-ray players also play DVDs, so any blu-ray player will work for your purposes.

Hi, i have just done a car boot sale a few weeks ago, and made £80, the thing is im going to do another one this weekend and want to sell more stuff, just wondering what you would pay for…..a 14in Nokia colour tv, Pye hi-fi with double tape deck, cd and radio, and lastly Sony DVD player.

Im not too bothered if i dont get too much for it, just would like to know what i should charge for them…
I sold clothes for 50p, New and old, cd/dvds £1, books 20p, ornaments £1….

hi, prob should have explained better that the Hi-fi has double tape deck, cd player, and radio all in one, they are not all seperate.

Sell the TV for £10, Hi-Fi for £15-20, CD and radio for £3 and Sony DVD player for £15.

A guy goes into one of these emporium type of shops situated at the corner of a street of terraced houses.

He sees a display of remote controls.

“How much for one of those?” he asks the guy behind the counter.

“Fifty pence.” the guys says.

“Fifty pence? I take it they are not very good!” the man laughs

“Not at all. The best you can get – will control any TV you want.” the man says perfectly seriously.

The guy buys one and then sees a DVD player and asks how much that is.

“A pound.” the guys says without so much as a flicker of emotion.

“A pound?!” the customer says, “It must be junk.”

“Nope.” says the guy with grim seriousness, “The very best, will read any disc you put in, it also doubles up as a karaoke machine.”

“I’ll take the lot!” the guy says thinking to test him out.

“Sure, got your car with you? Here, take my mobile and phone all your friends and tell them about this sale – must end today.” He holds out the mobile, his face straight as a die.

“I certainly will thanks, however look, I don’t understand what’s going on here.” the man says as he starts dialing the first of his mates.

“Well,” says the poker faced guy, leaning across the counter. He jerks his thumb upwards “My boss is upstairs with my wife. And what he’s doing to her, I’m doing to his business.”

Yes, you could use it. But it would suck since it’s an HTiB (home theater in a box) and pretty much all of them are extremely low quality.

I really want to buy the film ‘Accused at 17′ on DVD however I can’t find it for sale anywhere? I live in the UK so it has to be Region 2, otherwise it will not work on my DVD player. Does someone know where I can buy this DVD?

Also, there’s not a wikipedia page on the film. Just wondering, however does someone know why?
Not only can I not find the DVD in Region 2, I can’t find it in Region 1 either. Was the movie even released onto DVD?

why dont you buy a multi-region dvd player on ebay so you can play dvd’s from all over the world,

i got 2 2nd hand multi-region dvd players and they only cost me £10 and £40 so they are NOT expensive

the reason why you cant find it, is due to the film is not available on dvd yet, i dont know why its taken so long compared to other films to get released

I have tried looking, however can only see Region 1 for sale and that will not work for my DVD Player as it is not compatible! Help!
